A pair of ritual murders could expose Mercy Kilpatrick to something terrifying: her own past…
Raised off the grid by survivalists, Mercy Kilpatrick believed in no greater safeguard than the backwoods of Oregon. Unforgiven by her father for abandoning the fold for the FBI, Mercy still holds to her past convictions. They’re in her blood. They’re her secrets—as guarded as her private survival retreat hidden away in the foothills.
In a cabin near her hideaway, Mercy encounters a young girl whose grandmother is dying from multiple knife wounds. Hundreds of miles away, a body is discovered slashed to death in a similar way. The victims—a city judge and an old woman living in the woods—couldn’t be more different. With the help of police chief Truman Daly, Mercy must find the killer before the body count rises. Mercy knows that the past has an edge on her. So does her family. How can she keep her secrets now…when they’re the only things that can save her?

James Lee Burke’s most beloved character, Dave Robicheaux, returns in this gritty, atmospheric mystery set in the towns and backwoods of Louisiana.
DAVE ROBICHEAUX IS A HAUNTED MAN.
Between his recurrent nightmares about Vietnam, his battle with alcoholism, and the sudden loss of his beloved wife, Molly, his thoughts drift from one irreconcilable memory to the next. Images of ghosts at Spanish Lake live on the edge of his vision.
During a murder investigation, Dave Robicheaux discovers he may have committed the homicide he’s investigating, one which involved the death of the man who took the life of Dave’s beloved wife. As he works to clear his name and make sense of the murder, Robicheaux encounters a cast of characters and a resurgence of dark social forces that threaten to destroy all of those whom he loves. What emerges is not only a propulsive and thrilling novel, but a harrowing study of America: this nation’s abiding conflict between a sense of past grandeur and a legacy of shame, its easy seduction by demagogues and wealth, and its predilection for violence and revenge. James Lee Burke has returned with one of America’s favorite characters, in his most searing, most prescient novel to date.

It is not easy terrain for the Fenland Constabulary to police, due to the distances between some of the remote fen villages, the dangerous and often misty lanes, and the poor telephone coverage. There are still villages where the oldest residents have never set foot outside their own farmland and a visit to the nearest town is a major event. THE ROSE BENNETT MYSTERIES
They say that the love of money is the root of all evil. And doesn’t Rose Bennett know it …
DEAD ON ACCOUNT
It’s a sweltering August evening when bank clerk Pandora Mitchell disappears from sleepy Market Melbourne, evaporating into thin air as she runs the country lanes around the town.
For Rose Bennett, banking consultant turned private investigator, the event shouldn’t be more than a headline in a newspaper. Except that Rose is investigating a bank fraud at the East & Northern Bank, and Pandora Mitchell’s evidence is the key to her enquiries.
As Rose begins to uncover evidence of Pandora’s involvement in the fraud, her colleagues at the bank begin to close ranks. Soon old acquaintances from the past begin to look more like enemies than friends, and as word spreads that Rose is assisting DI George Mulligan to investigate Pandora’s disappearance, someone makes it pretty clear that her presence in the town isn’t welcome.
But as the days pass, and fears for the missing girl grow, there’s more at stake than a bank’s reputation, and Rose doesn’t scare that easily …
A November sleet blowing off the North Sea can chill a man through to the bone. So when Andy Miller’s mangled body is found outside his Scarborough mansion flat, crushed under the wheels of his own BMW, no one can understand why his coat and shoes are missing.
Tracing the culprit behind a threatening phone call to a customer in arrears with his credit card payments should be a straightforward exercise for experienced investigator Rose Bennett. Except that Andy Miller worked for the East & Northern Bank and his death lands right in the middle of her investigation.
There’s no question that Andy was murdered, and as the repercussions of his death ripple out across the bank they hit those around him hard. His girlfriend is inconsolable, his flatmate is bereft, and his flatmate’s girlfriend … well, she used to be Andy’s girlfriend, so things are complicated.
Murder isn’t Rose Bennett’s field of expertise, but when DI George Mulligan asks her to be his eyes and ears within the bank she isn’t short of things to observe. Like Andy’s inconsolable girlfriend finding comfort in the eager arms of his flatmate, and his flatmate’s girlfriend not looking too happy at the idea of history repeating itself …
Alice Blacklaws thought she knew Nathan Kingsley.
A talented sportsman, an honest businessman, and a doting fiancé, he’d loved and cherished both Alice and her daughter Olivia long before they decided to tie the knot. But when someone pays a contract killer to shoot Nathan dead on the day of their wedding, and his devious brother Luke tries to disinherit the grieving Alice of everything Nathan had ever done for her … well, maybe it’s time for Alice to think again.
When Rose Bennett is asked to liaise with the dead man’s family on behalf of the East & Northern Bank, she isn’t sure what she’ll uncover. If a customer dies in suspicious circumstances, and his accounts suggest signs of financial irregularity, you can never be sure of the fall out. But as she attempts to untangle Nathan’s twisted financial affairs, a pattern begins to emerge.
Nathan Kingsley was keeping secrets, secrets someone wanted him to carry to the grave. And as those secrets are revealed, and danger comes ever closer to Alice and to Luke, Rose finds herself facing the very worst kind of killer, a killer without a conscience.
For the man who killed Nathan Kingsley, compassion is nothing, if the price is right. And duty is just a business obligation, to deliver death to order for whoever is paying the bill.

Crime Interrupted is a thriller that will have readers burning through the pages.
KLEPTOMANIAC, Who’s Really Robbing God Anyway is a trek through the pages of the Bible to find the untwisted truth about the centuries-old false teachings on tithes and offerings. Every page of this book has information that will make you become an analyst in getting to the bottom line of what tithing is in the Old and New Testament. It takes you on a journey to first define the word tithe and then breaks down the differences between giving and tithing as the Bible instructs. The author attempts to expose what most people believe as fact to bring them to what the Bible actually teaches when it comes to true giving. Are the arguments put forth today about tithing fact or fiction? This book tackles tough questions like, did God ever require a tithe of money? Was the contents of the tithe always money in the Bible? Who is really robbing God today? Did God change the tithe at some point in biblical history? Are first fruits money? Is the tithe food, money or both? Is the church the storehouse? Did Jesus, Paul and the Disciples tithe? Did the early church honor a money tithe system? Are Christians really cursed for not tithing ten percent of their income? These questions will be answered based on scholarship, the land, the language and the literature of the original Biblical people. Not only will questions be answered for those confused about whether or not they are required to pay ten percent of their income to religious institutions, they will learn what the Bible really teaches about money and stewardship. The author meticulously examines the word tithe in both the Hebrew and Greek language. To understand every Bible verse that contains the word tithe, the author gives context and definitive definitions for clarity of the text. This book also explains the concept of giving from a New Testament perspective without the mandate of ten percent and explains why the Apostle Paul never mentioned tithing to any of the New Testament congregations. From Genesis to Revelation, this book is about how to properly interpret biblical terms to arrive at the proper interpretation of a biblical text that refers to money or tithing.
